Last year, one of our Abbotsfield residents, Aleksandra, applied for the Simple Life donation of £200 to go towards a community get-together. After a successful application, she attempted to schedule an event in December last year. However, due to busy schedules, full diaries over the festive period it proved difficult to find a suitable date.
In the new year, Aleksandra continued trying to organise the gathering. Sadly, one of the families due to attend was going through a bereavement, which made it even harder to bring everyone together.
Rather than let the opportunity go to waste, Aleksandra and her husband chose to use their FriendsGiving fund in a different way. They created three stunning bouquets of fresh flowers — each one thoughtfully arranged and hand-delivered to the doorsteps of three neighbours as a gesture of kindness and community spirit.
No fanfare. No announcement. Just a simple act of kindness.
These unexpected gifts brought some much-needed cheer to the neighbours and perfectly captured the spirit of kindness and community.
This Friendsgiving story is a perfect example of how a little support can go a long way — from a shared meal to a blossoming gesture that brightens someone’s day.
