Fit For A Queen

On Friday 3rd June, over 80 Beam Park residents pulled up a throne to join in royal celebrations for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, including traditional games, a 'mini' bar, and plenty of feasting.

There was a crowd of crowns, lots of creative young people crafted their own crowns decorated with all sorts of jewels. The perfect regal accessory to complete their jubilee themed red, white and blue outfits. Some even dressed up as kings and queens. It seemed everyone was eager to get snapped up and have their picture featured in this issue of Beam Stream.

Neighbours shared their royal delights, serving a fanfare of homemade cakes and delicious bites. Anita Riungu from Anderson Way (pictured with her children) baked a delicious chocolate cake garnished with strawberries. Freshly baked scones were delivered by ASL (Aspire, Support, Learn). Residents smothered the scones with jam and clotted cream, a welcome treat washed down with tea or a glass of Pimm’s.

LDN Craft were on hand with their appropriately British themed London Mini Bar to help celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. A complimentary summer drinks menu on a hot day was a refreshing treat for residents that attended the event, and was kindly sponsored by Simple Life London.

Did someone say egg and spoon race? Yes! Some royally themed traditional games including a three-legged race and sack race were on offer. Some game competitors lined up to take part all for a bit of fun, refereed by Titilayo, Director of Education at Emmanuel Community School. Mark and Carolyn from Strangeboat were very jubilant, enjoying all the activities, happily chatting to residents and collating lovely messages to post on their Gratitude Tree.

We’d like to send out a huge thank you to all our volunteers for their efforts in pulling the event together. Special thanks to Sammi Dines at Hart Way for her help organising the event and Jannate Rowsan who adorned many residents with some beautiful henna designs.
